Cryptocoryne Lucens Characteristics
They are distributed in the area around the city of Kandy in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, where they grow on the banks of the rivers. Its leaves are oblong – ovate to narrow – lanceolate, with a uniform medium green color, without pattern, resembling those of Cryptocoryne Parva but becoming larger (emerged up to 25, submerged up to 20 cm high). The blade of the spathe is rough and quite variable in color, often dark purple or reddish brown.
The plant described as Cryptocoryne Lucens by HCD De Wit in 1962 is a variety of the C. x Willisii hybrid complex that is found quite frequently in the hobby.
