Accessing your WAC104 for the first time requires connecting your Windows device to the access point and setting a static IP address on your Ethernet or wireless adapter. This article outlines the steps required to set a static IP address on your Ethernet adapter if using a direct connection between your Windows device and the access point or wireless adapter if connecting wirelessly to the access point.
Connecting directly to the access point via Ethernet cable:
1. In Windows, click Start and type network connections. In the search results click View network connections.
2. Right click on Ethernet (Local Area Connection) and click Properties.
3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > and click Properties.
4. Select Use the following IP address. Enter IP address 192.168.0.210 in the IP address field.
Enter 255.255.255.0 in the subnet mask field.
Click OK twice.
Your Ethernet adapter is now configured with static IP 192.168.0.210 and the access point web interface is accessible at http://192.168.0.100
Connecting wirelessly to the access point:
When the access point is in factory default settings it will broadcast 2 wireless networkswith open security. The wireless network names are NETGEAR_11N on the 2.4GHz band and NETGEAR_11AC on the 5GHz band. Connecting to either of these wireless network names is required to access the web interface and configure the access point.
1. In Windows, click Start and type network connections. In the search results click View network connections.
2. Right click on Wi-Fi (Wireless Network Connection) and click Properties.
3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > click Properties.
4. Select Use the following IP address. Enter IP address 192.168.0.210 in the IP address field.
Enter 255.255.255.0 in the subnet mask field.
Click OK twice.
The static IP address is configured on your wireless adapter. Next we'll connect to the default wireless network broadcast by the WAC104.
5. Right click on Wi-Fi (Wireless Network Connection) and click Connect/Disconnect. Depending on which version of Windows you are running you may need to click Show available networks.
From the available networks list, click on one of the default wireless networks (SSID) broadcast by the WAC104, NETGEAR_11N or NETGEAR_11AC
or
6. Click Connect.
A password is not required to connect to the default SSID.
The access point web interface is now accessible at http://192.168.0.100
