Savor the flavors of “The Dr. Hotez One World” Banh Mi by Dr. Peter J. Hotez and Chef Alex Padilla, available at Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys’ Galleria, Medical Center and North Loop locations through Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021.
Local hero and leading voice in vaccine development and global health, Dr. Peter J. Hotez has partnered with Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys and Chef Alex Padilla for the special release of the “The Dr. Hotez One World” Banh Mi; featuring thinly sliced marinated beef on house-baked French bread, served with pickled carrots, cucumber, daikon radish, papaya with a roasted garlic-sambal aioli and fresh jalapeño, for $8.95.
The newest installment in the Antone’s “H-Town Originals” campaign is meant to honor the work of Dr. Hotez as one of health care’s most influential people in the world. Fifty percent of the proceeds from “The Dr. Hotez One World” banh mi will benefit Texas Children’s Hospital to support the hospital’s Center for Vaccine Development.
The sandwich will be featured on Antone’s menus through Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021.
“H-Town Originals” at Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys
The “H-Town Originals” series from Antone’s features a sandwich created by a local celebrity, with partial proceeds from the sale of their sandwich benefiting and raising awareness of a favorite charity of their choice.
Past installments include signature sandwich items by Houston Texans All-Pro linebacker Whitney Mercilus, Bun B, and more.
About Dr. Peter J. Hotez
Houston’s Dr. Peter Hotez has been a tireless advocate for vaccination advancement, a lead researcher and specialist in the field of infectious diseases, and a prominent global health voice throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Hotez serves as Texas Children’s Hospital Chair in Tropical Pediatrics, co-director of Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development, and dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
