Pep Guardiola may be known for his handsome good looks and suave sense of style. But the Manchester City manager has been in the headlines for a different reason in recent days. The football boss has been spotted wearing an ultra-rare £1.1m watch – and there’s only 50 of them in the world.

Guardiola was seen standing on the sidelines of Manchester City's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid last week. The match saw City scoring some stunning goals in the 3-3 draw, with players Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol all wowing with their playing style. As elegant as ever, Guardiola cheered his team on, wearing a black polo neck and blazer - and fans were quick to spot his elegant watch peeping out from the sleeve of his jumper.

The timepiece is a particularly rare watch, crafted by luxury manufacturer Richard Mille. It is part of the Rafael Nadal collection and called the Calibre RM27-01. It was released as part of an ultra-exclusive collection, with only 50 of the watches released back in 2013. At the time, the piece was described as a ‘triumph of engineering and technology.’

According to the brands website, the watch is built to ‘combine strength and flexibility to protect the movement’ of the watch. It weighs just 3.5 grammes, thanks to the ‘use of grade 5 titanium for the baseplate and tourbillon carriage, and of aluminium-lithium for the barrel bridges and gear-trains.’

According to The Mirror, it is now worth an incredible $1.5million (£1.19m), due to its rarity. Perhaps naturally, Rafael Nadal has also been seen wearing the watch - even opting to wear the timepiece in 2022 when the player became the first man to win 21 Grand Slams in the open era.

Other stars who have been seen wearing the brand include Jay-Z, who owns a number of watches from the designer. He was snapped wearing the Richard Mille 56, said to be worth $2.5 million, in 2020, while the following year he opted for the RM 56-01 Tourbillon Sapphire for his fourth of July celebrations. Pharrel Williams and Ed Sheeran have also been seen wearing the watches.
