This engine is mainly intended for the Antonov, An-70, An-70T, An-180 and Beriev Be-42 aircraft, but also for aircraft with a low fuel consumption requirement, such as passenger aircraft.
The Progress D-27 Propfan turboprop engine has a contra-rotating propellers, SV-27 type variable pitch propellers of Russian origin and made entirely of composite materialы with a diameter of 4.5 meters.
Its front row is equipped with eight propellers and the rear row has six. All this combination yields a maximum power of 14,000 horsepower (each engine). In addition to these, the engine has the lowest fuel consumption (130 grams for every ton of cargo per kilometer).
Diameter of contra-rotating propellers 4500 mm. Rotational frequency take-off condition 1000 RPM. Weight 1100 kg. Take-off power 13400 h.p. Thrust (Vfl=0) 12150 kgf.
