Newly crowned Formula Nordic champion Linus Granfors set for NXT Gen Cup debut

Newly crowned Formula Nordic champion Linus Granfors will make his NXT Gen Cup debut in the historic Falkenberg premiere this weekend on July 8-9.

The 15-year-old secured the Formula Nordic title just last weekend and will face a challenging transition from rear-wheel driven single seaters to the front-wheel driven 100% electric LRT NXT1 race car.

“This opportunity came very quickly after my Formula Nordic title and it feels incredibly exciting,” said Linus Granfors.

“I’ve never driven a touring car, never driven front-wheel drive, and never driven an electric car. On top of that, I’ve missed the pre-season tests, so it won’t be an easy challenge – but I’m thrilled to get the chance. Huge thanks to NXT Gen Cup for this opportunity!”

Linus Granfors, who has won 12 out of 12 Formula Nordic races this year, made his racing debut in 2020 and raced go karts prior to that.

The Swede will join the strong NXT Gen Cup field of 18 young talents at the historic Falkenberg season opener weekend which starts on Saturday with practice and qualifying, followed by two races on Sunday – all broadcast LIVE on YouTube.

NXT Gen Cup will run alongside the all-electric STCC in Sweden and DTM/ADAC Racing Weekend in Germany to crown the official Swedish Junior champion in cooperation with the Swedish Motorsport Federation (SBF). Learn more here!
