Pet Owner Shocked as Cat Missing for 2 Years Casually Walks In: 'Surreal'

A woman from Pennsylvania has shared her joy after her missing cat returned home after two years.

Eris shared her excitement on Reddit's r/MadeMeSmile forum where she posted pictures of her 10-year-old cat, Q-tip, who had finally found her way home.

"She went missing in November of 2020," Eris told Newsweek. "So this month is exactly two years since she went missing."

After two years of adventures, Q-tip arrived at home as though nothing had happened, and simply walked through the door one morning.

"My sibling was opening the door to turn the porch light off and they turned to me and said 'you are not going to believe who just walked into the house,'" said Eris.

"Wow that was quite the adventure," said one commenter on the Reddit post that has received over 40,000 upvotes.

Another commenter joked: "You got some 'splaining to do kitty."

In pictures shared by her loving owners, the fluffy ginger kitten seems to have made herself at home again pretty quickly.

"My instant reaction was to grab her and start yelling for my family," said Eris. "People were already in bed but I didn't care."

"I honestly don't think I've stopped smiling since, though after a few hours and everything calmed down I did cry," said the delighted owner.

"I'm so happy for y'all," said another Redditor. "That is amazing."

"It's very strange having her home," said Eris. "Two years ago she was laying on my bed as I went to sleep and she hasn't been there since and here she is. It feels surreal."

"Oh my. I can't imagine the heartache, and then the joy. I hope she is strong and healthy," said another comment on the viral post.

Another Redditor said: "Poor baby. Bet those two years were rough. So glad she is home and can be pampered."

The family is delighted to have their feline friend back where she belongs, and Eris rushed to share the good news online.

"Since we lost her in 2020, we didn't really have much hope for her coming back. Then another year passed, and we really thought she was gone," said Eris. "Part of me always hoped someone took her in instead of that though."

"I shared my story on Reddit because I was happy and I wanted other people to be happy because my baby came home," said the delighted cat owner.

Q-tip isn't the first cat to unexpectedly return home either. Earlier this year, a cat returned home after six months away "like nothing had happened." While another feline explorer was found in Florida seven years after going missing from her family home.
