A 2022 survey from Wag! animal-sitters and walkers showed that 41 percent of 1,001 pet owners questioned miss their dogs more than their kids or spouse when they return to work, and it seems the feeling is mutual.

The endearing TikTok video shows Bucky jumping up and down while inside a dog pen, his face appearing and disappearing out of view.

The text reads: "When your mom works at a dog boarding facility and everyone is settled for the night but you're hyped because it's time to go home." It adds: "Bucky knows there is always a 50% chance he may score an after-work chicken mcnugget so he gets real hyped about leaving."

One TikToker commented: "My roommate at the time put my dog in the bathroom for an hour where he jumped like this. He got a herniated disc and lifelong back problems after."

Best Pets Veterinary Hospital, in Tewkesbury, Massachusetts, writes in a blog post on its website: "Many of us know the pain of a bad back all too well. From tender spots that pinch when we bend certain ways to the crippling pain that prevents us from being able to complete our day-to-day activities, there are many different types of back problems.

"The same can be said for our canine counterparts, who are just as likely to experience back pain as we are," the hospital added.

The experts say one way to reduce the risk of back pain or more serious problems is to discourage jumping. "Although dogs can be extremely excitable," they report, "jumping is one of the worst actions for their spine. You should strongly discourage your dog from jumping off and on any surfaces, regardless of whether they are hard or soft.

"If your pup jumps up to get your attention when you return home, get down to his level as much as possible so that he doesn't need to stretch to come into contact with you."

Users on TikTok shared their delight at the dog's reaction, with Stephanie Ramsey writing of Bucky: "He's like. Work shift is over. Time to go home. He probably thinks the chicken nugget is his paycheck for being a helper."

TikToker Lindsay wrote: "I work at a vet clinic overnight so at 6 AM all of the hospital and boarding dogs are getting hope and mine is ready to crash in the hallway."

Baxter & Ellie Barrington commented: "I would be telling mine if he doesn't chill out he's staying here for the night lol."
