(NewsNation) — A missing cat traveled more than 1,000 miles in an Amazon package before being reunited with her owners.

Utah resident Carrie Clark noticed her indoor cat was missing but didn’t connect the feline’s disappearance to an Amazon box her husband had packed to return.

Galeana, a six-year-old shorthair, apparently snuck into the box along with the steel-toed workboots being returned and traveled two states away to California.

An Amazon worker discovered Galeana in the warehouse and took her to the vet, where a microchip helped them get in contact with Clark and let her know her pet had been located.

Galeana was in good health, despite having gone six days without food or water. One seam of the box had come loose, allowing oxygen to get in, which helped her survive. She was suffering from mild dehydration.

Clark told reporters she didn’t believe the call, thinking it was a prank. But she and her husband flew to California to pick Galeana up, the cat relaxing from her ordeal once she was back in Clark’s arms.
