Aran sweater is an oversized chunky cable knit garment. Inspiration comes from the history of where the beautiful cable knitting created, Irish islands of Aran. This thick and warm sweater is knitted with aran yarn, just like the name, and features with a variety of cables.

Aran sweater is worked from top down in one piece.

Length:  74 cm [29 inches] - Measured from edge of folded turtle neck

 

SUGGESTED NEEDLES

6 mm [US 10] circular needles ( 60, 100 or 120 cm [24, 40 or 48 inches] )

5 mm [US 8] circular needles ( 60, 100 or 120 cm [24, 40 or 48 inches] )

4 mm [US 6] double pointed needles (15 cm [6 inches] ) - for bind-off

OR adjusted needle size to obtain gauge

 

KNITTING DENSITY

In pattern stitch using 6 mm [US 10] needles

22 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches]

In stockinette stitch using 6 mm [US 10] needles

13 sts x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches]

 

SIZE GUIDE

The sweater is intended to accommodate major sizes without sacrificing pattern proportion. It has a wide range of approx. 25-65 cm [9.8-25.6 inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be about min. 25 cm [9.8 inches] to max. 65 cm [25.6 inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The size fits loosely on bust circumference of 90-130 cm [35.4-51.2 inches]. 

The photos demonstrate how the sweater looks on a person with chest circumference of 88 cm [34.6 inches], a typical size XS/S.
