It might not be April Fool's Day anymore but Google's little bit of tomfoolery is still playable.

Remember Where's Wally from your childhood? Of course you do, well now he's landed in the digital age via the medium of Google Maps.

And it's extremely easy to play, all you have to do is go onto Google Maps and Wally should be in the top left corner giving you a friendly wave.

If not, click on the menu button and there will be a Where's Wally tab around half-way down the list.

Then click 'Where's Wally? Play the game' and there will be a series of levels in real world inspired locations for you to find Wally, the weird wizard bloke and his trusty pooch.

The press release was even supposedly written by Wally (or Waldo if you're from the opposite side of the Atlantic) himself:

"To start the search, simply update your app or visit google.com/maps on desktop.

"Then press play when you see me waving at you from the side of your screen.

"You can even ask the Google Assistant on your phone, Chromebook or Home device, 'Hey Google, Where’s [Wally]?' to start."

After you complete the levels you are told to: "Find the next level

"On the map, switch views to look towards the sky. Find Wally's avatar to see his new mysterious location."

We'll admit we haven't been able to find Wally in space or wherever he might be hiding.

So if you do better than us please let us know in the comments.
