Carlos Rodriguez joins the Justine Henin Academy

Justine Henin, founder and president of the Justine Henin Academy announces the arrival of Carlos Rodriguez as Sports Director of her Academy. Carlos is the coach with whom she achieved her greatest successes.

The arrival of Carlos Rodriguez, as Sports Director, is part of the continued desire of the Justine Henin Academy to provide an excellent tennis education to all players, whatever their project (leisure, competition, high level). With more than 30 years of experience in high-level tennis and the training of young players, Carlos aims, in particular, to ensure the development and implementation of sports pedagogy and to work on court with players and coaches. This is to position the Academy as a benchmark in the training of tennis players in Belgium and Europe.

“I am very happy to join the Justine Henin Academy and to work with Justine on an ambitious common project. This function fully corresponds to my expectations and my aspirations. Indeed, the size of the Academy allows me to combine the function of sports director and coach, a job that lies close to my heart," said Carlos Rodriguez.

After a collaboration of almost 15 years, marked by exceptional sporting results, Justine and Carlos find themselves with the common desire to transmit their passion for tennis and to put their experience at the service of the development of all the players of the Academy.

“I will be primarily on the court. It is essential for Justine and myself that all the young players of the Academy (from leisure to high level), as well as the coaches, can benefit from my knowledge and experience. Justine will also increase her presence on the court by participating in training every week and sharing her experience in the form of workshops. It will really be a unique offering for our players,” explains Carlos Rodriguez.

The duo also shares a vision and a common approach to tennis they wish to share with the players and to convey to all the coaches of the Academy.

“Carlos and I have always favoured a simple, pragmatic and close player approach. Moreover, we believe that it is also developing on the human and personal level that a player is given the best chance to achieve his athletic goals. This approach has been instrumental in our success. Our goal is for it to be adopted and implemented by the entire Academy team”, underlines Justine.

Carlos will officially start on 28 June 2021.
