F 27 Corsair specs

Hey, I’m new here and new to sailing. My father in law and I are looking into a Corsair F 27. We’re looking into ways of having it shipped and I’m having a hard time finding the specs specifically the weight of the central hull by itself. Also hoping to find out how wide the trailer is. If anyone has the info I’d appreciate it.

An F27 will fold to find on a standard tandem axle trailer without taking the amas off. Standard trailer is 8 1/2 feet wide. This is our F28 behind F150 truck. Whole boat weighs something like 3200 pounds.Click image for larger version

Thanks, the problem is we’re gonna have to get it into a 40ft shipping container (build a cradle to hold the central hull with the floats taken off) and I don’t think the trailer will fit unless it’s at an angle.

Re: F 27 Corsair specs

Without removing the amas an F27 is too wide according to SJ2581's dimensions to fit in a container. A 40' container is 39'6" long x 7'9" wide x 7'10" high. Would seem the container would be long enough to fit the boat and trailer with the rudder removed. If not, it shouldn't be hard to modify the trailer with a sliding tongue.

That’s the plan, removing the floats. Just trying to figure out how much the central hull weighs and the width of the central hull as well as the width of the trailer.

Re: F 27 Corsair specs

Call a dealer. If they are like the ones in the USA they will be helpful. Heck they might even have a shipping container cradle from a recently shipped new boat that might be modified for the 27. In case you don't know, the hub of Corsair/Farrier activity is on the IO forum. You will have any question you ever had answered there. ~20 years worth of archives, many with Farrier himself answering questions. I assume you aren't in the usa as there are 27s all over the place, and in Europe too. Some in Asia, Aus, NZ etc. I think over 400 were built. Good luck

Re: F 27 Corsair specs

Where is the the boat and what is the destination? If you’re moving it from overseas to “somewhere,” that’s one thing; if within one one country, that’s another.

We shipped our Corsair 36 from British Columbia to Maryland folded, shrink-wrapped, with trailer (using the gooseneck) on a low boy from British Columbia to Maryland.

If shipping from 1 country to another you can use containers or get the boat to a boat shipper who can anchor the entire rig to the deck, similar to how they move catamarans from France, S. Africa for the big 3, as well private vessels from a variety of other places. Google is your friend, as well as the F boat owners list.

Great boats; good luck.
