A group of yarnbombers is seeking fellow knitters and crocheters to get involved in their Preston city centre yarnbombing project. We went to find out more.
AdvertisementYou may have already spotted the tree opposite Oxfam, on the Flag Market, swathed in brightly coloured squares. The Knit and Purl Jam yarnbombers attended the Caribbean Carnival launch party on the Flag Market on Saturday and dressed the tree, whilst previewing some of the wonderful costumes that will feature in Sunday’s carnival.
“We met lots of knitters and crocheters who we hope will join the yarnbombing group,” said Joey Afrin Black, from the Knit and Purl Jam. “We have left the bottom of the tree dressed – and will add higher sections over the next few weeks when we have more people and ladders available.
“We are inviting anyone who would like to join in with the tree project, please feel free to sew your own little bits of knitted or crocheted loveliness to the tree. It would be great if as many people as possible would join in and take pictures of their additions and send them to our Instagram account or Facebook page.”
Anyone who would like to join the group can also email the Knit and Purl Jam at joeyrockartistmgmt@aol.com.
We look forward to seeing your creations!
