This started out as a personal fun project for my little mannequin "Kawny", I had started to grow fond of him, creating little snapchat stories of him, dressing him up and sometimes saying things through him. Kawny then grew lonely, he needed someone his size to diffuse his solitude. Kawny needed a girlfriend and so the first Rihanna was made by mom and I. Rihanna gave Kawny what he needed at first... but Rihanna was praised and complemented by many, Rihanna was really popular and soon we forgot about Kawny and started making Rihanna girl friends enjoying the design process involved and mom enjoying the sewing and the end product... Rihannas came to life one after the other.
يمكن كوني كنت أشعر بالكثير من الحزن والقليل من الإحباط وشعوري بأني أكثرت الشكوى إلى من هم من الأقربون دفعني إلى افتعال صديق وجدت به إنعكاس داخلي أكثر من كونه له عقله الخاص، وكونه كان "كوني" في تلك المرحلة من هنا جاء الاسم. كوني كان مسلي لأقصى الحدود رغم أنه كان مكتئب لكن روحه كانت أخف من جسده الخشبي لكنه بعد فترة مَل الوجود والتواجد والعزلة فأراد صديق من حجمه وقدراته ولأني أحبه فقد كان قرار عمل صديقة له من أسهل وأسعد القرارات بل وأكثرها تسلية ومن هنا جاءت ريحانة، ريحانة كانت مبهجة وسعيدة ومحبوبة لدرجة جعلتني انسى كوني واصنع المزيد من الريحانات
Despite overwhelming sadness and insomnia, Kawny was happy.

At the beginning of it all, everything was just exciting and new.

Rihanna somehow was just full of errors like how we forgot to cut the string between embroidering her eyes and that made her the most beautiful, real doll as could be.

She joined me at work, and hung out quite a lot with me

Rihanna started making friends, her friends had Arabic names sometimes derived from the person I was intending to give it to, like the one to the left, Bahiga, a doll made for the artist Dalia Bahig, that's why Bahiga had a floral dress. She's inspired from Dalia's work.

The range of playing around was wide and handbags were included
الموضوع توسع قليلاً ومساحة اللعب شملت عمل حقائب يد من نفس القماش
Bit by bit and piece by piece we played more with designs
حتة بحتة وعروسة بعروسة اللعب زاد
A wedding was held.
وعاملنا فرح
and we kept designing and delivering custom made dolls, to kids, friends and anyone who appreciates them.
وفضلنا نعمل عرايس لأطفال، أصحاب وأي حد يقدرهم.
It was inspiring on so many levels.

Harley Quinn was one good inspiration. Origami or whatever the setup that was inspiring these little friends.
Bohemian friends hanging with friends who have cute pets by the nile.
In the end Kawny got what he wished for.
