Well, folks, Shakira just hit us with one of the most shocking celebrity hair transformations of 2021 so far. As you can already tell from the headline, the 44-year-old pop star dyed her hair a bold shade of red — similar to that of a fire engine, or even Maraschino cherries, for that matter.

The "Waka Waka" singer debuted her new look via Instagram on Friday evening. She first posted a photo of herself with "Voilà!" written on top, as well as in the caption. Shortly after, Shakira followed up with a video of herself using the Dyson Airwrap to straighten her famous curls. "Surprise!" she captioned the clip, in which she's also singing to "GIRL LIKE ME," her latest single in collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas.

Now, many Shakira fans will know that this isn't the first time she's dyed her hair red. The Colombian singer sported a similar shade in 1999 during her MTV Unplugged performance, and then again in 2002 on the cover of her album Grandes Exitos. Naturally, folks have been flooding the comment section with messages like, "MTV Unplugged vibes ❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥," "Hermosa 😍🔥 #flashback to 1998," and "OLD SCHOOL SHAK 😍."

Sadly, the singer didn't reveal who's behind her fiery new hair color; nevertheless, whoever's responsible for it did a brilliant job. Needless to say, we sure hope Shakira keeps her new look around for a hot minute.
