Shakira's Hair Routine Comes Equipped With Dance Moves

Getting ready for a night out, wedding, or dinner takes precious time. And that holds true even if you're famous like Shakira, surrounded by an awesome glam squad, and getting ready to shoot a video for your new track. When I get ready, I usually lay out my look, then set the mood with music that amps me up. (If I'm being honest, selecting the right tunes is the real reason it usually takes me so long to get ready, not to mention that the average beauty routine includes a whopping 27 steps.) Next thing I know, my favorite Tinashe or Ciara song comes on, and I catch myself having a full-blown karaoke session, complete with using my round brush or flatiron as a microphone.

I'm happy to report that Shakira and I have more in common that I might have thought. Yesterday the mommy of two posted an Instagram video of her behind-the-scenes preparation routine during the video shoot for her new single "Chantaje." In the post, Shakira and her crew are vibing out to a pretty unexpected track: '90s classic jam "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground. It's not just the singer that's grooving out. Every single person in the room—the hairstylist curling her long waves, her makeup artist, and two other members of her entourage—is singing along to every word. "No wonder I get burned with curling irons all the time/ Ya sé porque me quemo con las tenacillas todo el tiempo! No me quedo quieta! Shak #flyonthewall,"she captioned the post. It's not that it's just cute to see Shakira having her hair done while dancing and singing—although that is superduper cute—but it's also life-affirming to watch a group of people jamming to such an unexpected song. Also: Isn't that such a good song?

If I ever have the good fortune to go to a Shakira concert and she's running late, I'll know exactly the reason. And I'll blame it on curling irons and the '90s.
