Last time we spoke to Shelly Taggar, owner of The Makeup Show, her beloved industry event's future was up in the air like so much loose powder. Although The Makeup Show usually happens several times a year, its Houston-based March gathering had been postponed until August. And since then, a decision was made to hold off on a Houston show until 2021. But that doesn't mean The Makeup Show isn't happening at all before summer is through.

For the first time in the event's history, Taggar has announced The Virtual Makeup Show, a way for those in the beauty industry — like makeup artists, buyers, and brand owners — to safely attend (read: tune in) from wherever they may be and enjoy the community, trends, tips, and more of what they've come to expect and love from the in-person Makeup Shows that usually take place in convention centers across the country.

"It's been a hard time for our industry during COVID-19," Taggar said in a statement. "Since this time makes it difficult to connect, we wanted to find a way to be with our community and support the brands, sponsors, and artists in providing an experience like we have always done, even if it's in a virtual experience."

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST on September 13 and 15, attendees with have the opportunity to check out brands, learn new techniques from celebrity makeup artists, and get trend and business insights from industry experts over the course of 35 educational sessions — some live, some pre-recorded. Just as with an in-person Makeup Show, there will be "main stage" presentations with some of the most recognizable talents, like Danessa Myricks, Damone Roberts, and James Vincent.

Attendees with also be able to attend live brand demos and video chats with owners and representatives from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. both days; however, ticket holders will be able to shop these brands — including Pacifica, Kevyn Aucoin, Bioderma, Stila, and Anastasia Beverly Hills — throughout the entire span of the two-day event.

"I think this will be an amazing virtual event," Taggar said, "and I know the beauty community will join us in supporting the show."

If you'd like to attend the very first Virtual Makeup Show, two-day tickets are now available for $35 on themakeupshow.com.
