Alexandra Kosteniuk Pulls Away at FIDE Online Steinitz Memorial

Magnus Carlsen leads the open event.


The first six rounds of the FIDE Online Steinitz Memorial were played on Chess24.com on May 15. 

In the women's tournament, Alexandra Kosteniuk (Russia) forged into the lead having impressively scored 5.5 points out of 6. Tan Zhongyi (China) is one point and a half behind. Lei Tingjie (China), Kateryna Lagno (Russia), Marie Sebag (France), and Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) have got 3.5 points each. 

Magnus Carlsen (Norway) grabbed the lead in the open section with 4 points scored. Bu Xiangzhi (China), Daniil Dubov (Russia) and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) are trailing by half a point. The Russians Peter Svidler and Alexander Grischuk have scored 3 and 2.5 points respectively. 

6 more rounds will be played on May 16.
