Selling the old dear - Klemt Echolette 5 from 1958 Serial #30215
German engineering at its finest.
This all tube tape echo from 1958 is truly a sight to behold. Highly prized echo/reverb and valve preamp/signal booster, known as the ‘Gold Box’ that featured prominently in the recordings of the Beatles. Ive had this a long time and its in full working order with all the original parts, knobs etc. and ‘magic eye’ valve signal indicator.
Ive kept it in a dust/smoke free environment, is in excellent condition and sounds great. Some scuffs and scrapes to the metal case but this is to be expected from any 60year old… A cigarette burn on the handle (was there when I bought it) could tell a story or two Im sure.
The Echolette 5 employs a 20" tape loop under relatively low tension - thus very easy on tapes. A two-speed motor, three record heads (each with separate volume control) and two (selectable) playback heads provided a wide variety of echoes."
No less than five, yes 5 tubes in the juicy pre amp stage and another “magic eye” tube for the input signal. Any input, no matter how hot, no matter how bland comes out like electric honey.
A weighty beast that has tone like no other. This german jewel is one of the best tube tape echoes of all time.
Shipping quotes given as guide from courier service, regular post will be cheaper.
