A dark grey cat is drying off and calming down after being abandoned in a tied-up pillowcase.

According to the Niagara SPCA, the feline was left in the pillowcase on the side of the road while it was pouring rain.

"Warning- this post describes a heartless act of animal abandonment," the rescue, located in Niagara Falls, New York, started its Facebook post about the incident.

The Feb. 27 post also featured two pictures of the cat. In both shots, the feline is wide-eyed and partially wet. The Niagara SPCA shared a photo of the pink-purple pillowcase the cat was found in as well.

The rescue continued their post with a description of the feline's rescue. According to the Niagara SPCA, a Good Samaritan spotted the cat first.

"She was left or potentially tossed, tied in a pillowcase, on the side of the road near the curve at Bond Lake today, in the pouring rain. Thankfully, a woman driving by saw the bag moving and stopped to investigate. She untied the pillowcase, and the cat ran out and immediately climbed into the engine of her car," the rescue wrote.

After discovering the feline, the woman contacted local authorities for help, who in turn reached out to the Niagara SPCA. Agents from the rescue arrived at the scene, safely removed the "little lady" cat from the Good Samaritan's vehicle, and brought her to the Niagara SPCA.

"Aside from being soaking wet and a little scared, she seems no worse for the wear," the rescue added about the cat's current condition.

The Niagara SPCA also mentioned that the feline may be looking for a "wonderful adopter" soon. Before the cat starts her search, the animal rescue is checking to see if the pet already has a family.
