Next month, an exact replica of Central Perk, the fictional coffee shop of Friends, will materialize in Soho. This is not the work of a Friends fanatic, but instead an elaborate pop-up planned by Warner Brothers to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic sitcom's premiere. The pop-up will last for a month, from September 17 to October 18, during which time there will be contests, giveaways, and, according to the press release, "weekly in-store performances akin to Phoebe's improvised songs." Also, James Michael Tyler, the guy who played Gunther the barista will make occasional appearances, and visitors will be able to sit on the actual orange couch where the gang so often sat. And yes, it will also function as a regular, working coffee shop serving free coffee.
