The Body Shop Born Lippy Stick balms

Hi all,

Welcome to the LipnStuff blog…as the name suggests, this blog is dedicated to my LOVE of lip products! I’d invite you all to have a gander about but this is my very first post so I’ll say “stay tuned”.

This post is all about the Body Shop Born Lippy stick balms, what I think of them etc.  These balms are basically supposed to be the stick version of the original Born Lippy balms which come in cute little pots.

The Body Shop makes this statement regarding the stick balms: ‘Our cult lip balm in a stick format. Gives lips a pop of colour, a shot of moisture and a soft shine.’

The stick balms come in 6 different flavours – Plum, Toffee, Lychee, Pomegranate, Strawberry and Pink Berry.

I will be reviewing the two that I have – Plum and Toffee.

I LOVE these balms….I’ve had the both of them since Christmas and I really do see myself finishing them both. You know those lip products that you wear and when you take them off your lips feel like an armadillo (in my mind armadillos are dry prickly things…don’t judge me!)….these balms aren’t one of them. As you use them they immediately feel like they are infusing moisture into your lips…they aren’t slippery, more gel-like and they do settle to an almost almost tacky finish. This may put some people off but I love me balms that I can feel….non of that slippery, oily finish things.

They are also very purse-friendly as I purchased them in store the Body Shop at my local shopping centre for £3 each.

I would classify these as tinted lip balms…they are in themselves very moisturising and your lips certainly do not dry out when wearing them or after taking them off, however they are surprisingly pigmented and therefore would be my first choice for wearing to bed. Having said that, I do not view it as a negative aspect of the balms, only something to keep in mind when thinking about the purpose of purchasing it.

The Toffee balm is a milk chocolate colour…quite subtle at first but it can most certainly be built up. It also smells like toffee! I like to wear this one if I am doing a look that requires a nude lip or if I’m going to church (wink!).

The Plum balm is a b-e-a-utiful plum colour (surprise surprise), perfect for giving me that my-lips-but-better thang that makes me look laid back yet oh so put together. It smells a little bit like watermelon to me, but I don’t have the sharpest sense of smell if I’m honest.

Do you share my appreciation for the Born Lippy balms?  Let me know.
