How to find us

Find your way to the here.

The entrance to the exhibition and shop can be found from several entrance points around the museum – among others right next to H.C. Andersen’s Birthplace, on Hans Jensens Straede 45, from Bangs Boder through the beautiful garden, or from the underground parking exit P15 (wheelchair-users may refer to P19 where there is a lift).

Parking
There are several car parks in the vicinity. NB: You pay to park in city centre car parks. Be sure to find the check-in machine that needs to be used to pay for parking. To find the car park you prefer click into odenserundt.dk Odense P car park is closest to the museum.

By bus
Buses stop at Hans Mules Gade. From here, there is less than a five-minute walk to the museum. If you choose to travel by bus to Odense Railway Station, there is no more than a 10-minute walk to the museum. For timetables, see the Fynbus website.

By train
The museum is about 10 minutes’ walk from Odense Railway Station. For timetables, see the DSB website here.

Light rail
Will stop close to H.C. Andersen House. We will update information here when the light rail opens.

Included in your ticket
With a ticket to H.C. Andersen’s House you can get a 50% discount on your ticket to the Carl Nielsen Museum, Møntergården or The Funen Village within 8 days from your visit in H.C. Andersen’s House.

Food and drink
Visitors are not permitted to bring food and beverages inside museum. Feeling hungry or in need of coffee? Visit our café.

Luggage
You may not bring rucksacks or large bags into the museum.

Smoking
The museum is a no-smoking area

Pets
We regret that pets are not allowed in the museum. Assistance dogs are welcome.

Accessibility

There is easy access throughout H.C. Andersen House for wheelchair users and other disabled people.

For the hard of hearing
The hard of hearing should expect somewhat less of the experience. It is not currently possible to receive a printed copy of the audio track. Visioguide is avaliable only in Danish.

For the visually disabled
The many visual elements of the exhibition represent the lion’s share of the experience. The visually disabled should expect much less of the experience. Even if you are visually disabled, you can enjoy an entertaining tour around H.C. Andersen House, e.g. by listening to the audio track.

Personal care assistants at work get free admission to the museum. Please show your care assistant ID card

There are lifts and accessible toilet facilities.

Prams and bigger pushchairs are not allowed in the exhibitions. Parents are welcome to loan one of the museum’s pushchairs (limited number of pushchairs available).

Enjoy our guided garden tour
The writer’s love of nature is reflected in the organically shaped building and a varied and luxuriant garden. In the garden you move along curving paths past rounded hedges in a gardenscape inspired by the senses and moods of Andersen’s fairy tales. Here the grass and thousands of flowers are allowed to grow as they will, so that bees can be heard humming in the life-giving garden in the heart of the city.
Instead of retelling the well-known fairy tales one-on-one, the garden lets the visitor take the lead role, and from here explore the garden and the universe of H.C. Andersen’s fairy tales.
