Following the successful release of its ever-popular Lightning McQueen clog, Crocs is stepping into the “Cars” universe once more to bring fans a Mater-inspired clog.
Available on Crocs’ official website starting this Tuesday, the clog was teased on the brand’s Instagram on Monday in a photo and a short video. Inspired by Disney Pixar’s beloved animated series, the Mater clog features the car character’s smiling face on the toes along with exposed engine detailing and a whimsical towing hook on the backstraps.
The slip-on footwear comes in a dark brown, referencing Mater’s rugged color scheme, with blue and teal detailing on the soles. Per usual, Crocs classic clogs are water-friendly, lightweight, quick drying and easy to clean. It’s likely the shoe will come in a wide range of sizes.
Disney Pixar and Crocs collaborated on a Lightning McQueen clog that originally only came in children’s sizes but was dropped in a range of adult sizes back in 2019 due to popular demand. The style was so popular that it sold out within hours after the release. The style has since been restocked a handful of times. The shoe is equipped with LEDs that light up with every step.
This year alone, Crocs has dropped a myriad of unique silhouettes that often feature playful and inventive designs, expanding its footwear horizons in the process. Crocs has lent its iconic clog, boot and sandal silhouettes to many franchises including everything from video game franchises to food.
The brand has dipped its proverbial toes into the worlds of Pop-Tarts, Crayola, Kanghyuk, Disney, Lisa Frank, Minecraft, Ron English, Pokemon and Aries in the past. Through these collaborations, Crocs has proved that their silhouettes are extremely versatile, lending themselves well to every creative prospect imaginable.
