Ariana Grande files for divorce from Dalton Gomez following 2-year marriage

The news comes in the wake of Grande's blossoming relationship with Wicked costar Ethan Slater.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez are officially divorcing.

EW has learned that the singer has filed for divorce from her husband of two years in Los Angeles on Monday. Gomez has additionally filed his own petition for divorce simultaneously.

The couple's separation was announced on July 19, with a source saying that the exes "have been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship." The following day, it was reported that Grande has been dating her Wicked costar Ethan Slater.

Soon after their relationship made headlines, PEOPLE reported that Slater had filed for divorce from his wife Lilly Jay, whom he married in 2018. Jay and Slater share a son, born in Aug. 2022.

Jay said that "My family is just collateral damage. The story is [Grande] and Dalton," and also described Grande as "not a girl's girl."

In the forthcoming Wicked films directed by Jon M. Chu, Grande plays the good witch Glinda, while Slater plays Boq, a munchkin whom Glinda rejects.

Grande and Gomez, a real estate agent, began dating in Jan. 2020 and announced their engagement in December of the same year. They married in Montecito in 2021. Grande's rep told PEOPLE that the wedding "was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn't be happier."
