Carl-Henning Pedersen centenary

Birds on the wing, mystical masks and enchanting castles – fairytale painter Carl-Henning Pedersen would have been 100 this year. We’ll be marking this anniversary at the international auction in September, and we are currently on the look-out for works.

Over the course of his 70-year artistic career, Carl-Henning Pedersen (1913-2007) painted thousands of paintings, and he played an important role in the development of abstract art in Denmark – first, as one of the leading figures in the art group “Linien” (1934 -39) and then in the international CoBrA movement (1948-51) after the Second World War.

Carl-Henning Pedersen celebrated

The centenary of one of the very biggest names in Danish art is indeed cause for celebration. At ARKEN, you can visit the critically acclaimed exhibition of more than 200 of his works, which, from September, can also be seen at the Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt Museum in Herning.

And just like these Danish cultural institutions, we’ll be focusing on Carl-Henning Pedersen’s fabulous universe at our international auction in mid-September. If you are in possession of works by him, now might be a good time to consider selling, when there is so much focus on him on the cultural scene. At the recent auction at Bredgade, his works achieved some impressive hammer prices:
