I want to share one of my favourite patterns with you: an amigurumi bear, quite little so it can fit in a hand but very cuddly! It’s beginner-friendly (only sewing the parts might be a bit tricky) but it’s an enjoyable project for seasoned crocheters, too.

Crocheted with a 3.5 mm hook, it measures approx. 13 cm.

I am very fond of this little fellow, and I love crocheting it on every occasion (craft fairs, birthdays, Christmas…), on every possible color. Who doesn’t love teddy bears, specially with such a cute face?

It was acommission from a girl who wanted to gift it to a bear-loving friend. She only said to me «I want a bear, not big, and as cuddliest as possible».

Well, do you think he is cuddliest enough? I certainly do!

So here comes the pattern! Please, advise me I you find any mistake. Thank you!:

MATERIALS
– 1 yarn ball, brown or any color. I’ve used Limol Trama Rústica (rustic cotton yarn)
– A 3.5mm hook, or the most fitting hook for your yarn
– 1 pair of safety eyes
– A thread of black yarn to embroider the nose
– Stuffing
– Tapestry needle, stitch marker and ball-point pins.

ABBREVIATIONS
sc = single crochet
inc = increase
dec = decrease
sts = stitches

PATTERN
HEAD
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (1 inc)x6 (12 sts)
R3: (1 sc, 1 inc)x6 (18 sts)
R4: (2 sc, 1 inc)x6 (24 sts)
R5: (3 sc, 1 inc)x6 (30 sts)
R6: (4 sc, 1 inc)x6 (36 sts)
R7-12: sc even (36 sts)
R13: (4 sc, 1 dec)x6 (30 sts)
Place safety eyes between rows 10-11 with 7 stitches between them. Embroider the nose with a T shape between the eyes (see picture below).

R14: (3 sc, 1 dec)x6 (24 sts)
R15: (2 sc, 1 dec)x6 (18 sts)
R16: (1 sc, 1 dec)x6 (12 sts).
R17: (1 dec)x6 (6 sts)
Finish stuffing and close. Weave in ends.

BODY
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (1 inc)x6 (12 sts)
R3: (1 sc, 1 inc)x6 (18 sts)
R4: (5 sc, 1 inc)x3 (21 sts)
R5-7: sc even (21 sts)
R8: (5 sc, 1 dec)x3 (18 sts)
R9: sc even (18 sts)
R10: (4 sc, 1 dec)x3 (15 sts)
R11: (3 sc, 1 dec)x3 (12 sts)
R12: sc even (12 sts).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Stuff and sew to head.

EARS (make 2)
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (1 inc)x6 (12 sts)
R3: (3 sc, 1 inc)x3 (15 sts)
R4: sc even (15 sts).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Flatten the ears and pinch them to create a concave shape.

Place them on the head with the help of safety pins, and sew carefully all the way around.

ARMS (make 2)
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (1 sc, 1 inc)x3 (9 sts)
R3-4: sc even (9 sts)
R5: (1 sc, 1 dec)x3 (6 sts)
R6-8: sc even (6 sts).
Fasten off, stuff lightly and sew to both sides of the body between rows 11-12.

LEGS (make 2)
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (1 inc)x6 (12 sts)
R3: (back loop only): sc even (12 sts)
R4: sc even (12 sts)
R5: (2 sc, 1 dec)x3 (9 sts)
R6-7: sc even (9 sts)
R8: (1 sc, 1 dec)x3 (6 sts).
Fasten off, stuff and sew to the bottom of the body slighly separated, on both sides of the magic ring.

TAIL
R1: 4 sc in magic ring (4 sts)
R2: (1 inc)x4 (8 sts)
R3: (1 dec)x4 (4 sts).
Fasten off, stuff lightly and sew on the back of the body, a few rows over the legs.
