Philip Casnoff

Philip Casnoff has appeared in NY at the Public Theatre in Hildemeyer's Mary Stuart and in Central Park as Poins in Henry IV, both directed by Des McAnuff. He was an original member of the Dodger Theatre Co. at the Brooklyn Academy, performing the roles of Gary in Barrie Keefe's Gimmie Shelter and the Lead Singer in Jeff Wanshel's Holeville. Other New York appearances incude Fedya in Chinchilla at the Phoenix Theatre, David in King of Schnorrers at the Harold Clurman, Edmund in Long Day's Journey into Night at the Manhattan Conservatory Theatre, and Danny Zuko and Teen Angel in Grease on Broadway. He is a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre, and studies acting with Michael Howard. Regionally, he played the title role in Pal Joey at the Long Wharf Theatre, Orsino in Twelfth Night at Yale Rep, Iachimo in Cymbeline at Arena Stage and Clarence in Richard III at the Kennedy Center. He has frequently worked on the development of new musicals at the Eugene O'Neill Foundation, and the Musical Theatre Lab at Kennedy Center. On television he has been seen as Eikanah Bent in North and South and its sequel Love and War. He played Marty Loftus in Hands of a Stranger for NBC, Lafayette in the miniseries George Washington and recently completed filming the title role in the CBS movie The Red Spider. He is maried to the actress Roxanne Hart with whom he has a baby boy, Alexander. He loves and adores them both.
